With Super Bowl Sunday bringing football fever across the city, Waltham residents turned snow into team spirit with eye-catching Patriots-themed displays that drew smiles from drivers and pedestrians alike.

On Waltham Common, George Ayer and Anthony DeLosa spent the past week creating a large snow sculpture painted in red, white and blue, with “GO PATS” emblazoned across the front. Working only with shovels, the pair topped their creation with a gold-painted nugget as a finishing touch.

“I think it’s quite a feat — two guys, two shovels, and a lot of willpower,” said local artist B. Amore, who spotted the sculpture while walking through the Common. “Homegrown folk art in Waltham!”

Ayer and DeLosa said they designed the sculpture as a lighthearted way to show support for the New England Patriots and bring positive energy to the neighborhood ahead of kickoff.

Elsewhere in the city, a home at 484 Waverley Oaks Road showcased another Patriots-themed snow display, featuring team colors and messages of support. The setup quickly became a local talking point as residents stopped to take photos and cheer on their team.

Across Waltham, fans donned Patriots gear, gathered with friends and family and joined in the excitement as the region geared up for the big game.
