Daniel “Danny” Marqus Jr., 1943–2026, Air Force veteran
Daniel “Danny” David Marqus Jr., of Haverhill, formerly of Waltham, died on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at the Haverhill Rehabilitation & Health Care Center after a period of declining health. He was 82.
Born and raised in Waltham, Danny was the son of the late Daniel D. Marqus Sr., and the late Doris (Mazochi) Marqus. His love of automobiles allowed him to graduate from Waltham Vocational High School after which Danny went on to honorably serve in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict.
When his daughter and son-in-law purchased their home in Haverhill, Danny moved to Haverhill with the determination to be an everyday grandfather and not a weekender. Although he lived there for more than 20 years, a big part of his heart remained in his home town of Waltham, where he returned daily to drive his cab and interact with the people he came to know and who depended on him. Even after retiring in 2016, he would visit Waltham regularly to visit with family and friends and cruise Moody Street.
Danny maintained an active lifestyle. He belonged to a bowling league and always enjoyed playing a competitive game of pool. He was no stranger in the kitchen and enjoyed cooking and baking, and all kinds of household projects. A born people person, he so enjoying sitting on the porch watching over the neighborhood and his neighbors, as he used to see his mom do while growing up. From the very beginning he was a fan of the King “Elvis Presley,” and a collector of all things Elvis. Danny was a dedicated and faithful fan of the Red Sox and the Patriots and his absolute favorite holiday was Christmas; he was known for spoiling all of the kids at Christmas-time.
The most important thing in Danny’s life was his commitment to his family, and he was so grateful to witness his granddaughters, Brianna and Alexis, become young ladies.
He was the brother of the late William Marqus, Albert J. “Rocky” Marqus, Thomas S. Marqus.
Danny is survived by his devoted daughter Kristin Rodis and her husband Adam Rodis; his granddaughters, Brianna and Alexis Rodis of Haverhill; his sisters, Lorraine M. Bissett of Ohio and Nancy R. Silva of Waltham; and his brother, Christopher Marqus of Sudbury. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late William Marqus, Albert J. “Rocky” Marqus and Thomas S. Marqus.
