Two cars collide on South Street Tuesday evening

Two cars collided on South Street just east of the Brandeis University entrance around 7:30 p.m. this evening, April 14. No injuries were reported. Waltham Police and Fire Departments responded, as did Brandeis Police. Traffic on South Street was reduced to one lane until at least 8 p.m.

UPDATE (posted April 16). Both vehicles involved sustained significant damage in the collision, with one car suffering heavy front end damage and another showing major side impact damage. Debris from the crash was scattered across the roadway as emergency crews worked the scene.

One individual was transported to Lahey Hospital for evaluation. The extent of injuries is unknown at this time.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
