Waltham parish collecting items this weekend to support families with young children
The St. Vincent de Paul Society at Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church is holding a collection this weekend of items for infants and young children. Items collected will be distributed during the society’s Mother’s Day “Baby Shower,” which supports local families.
The collection will take place from 4 p.m. Saturday, May 9, through noon Sunday, May 10, at the church, 920 Trapelo Road. Donors can drop off items at a “Pack and Play” set up at the church’s front entrance.
The society is also preparing for its annual “Bundle Sunday” drive, scheduled for June 13-14 at the church. The event collects clean, usable clothing, shoes and books, which are provided to the diocesan St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Proceeds generated from those donations are returned to the local conference and used to assist Waltham residents with needs such as groceries, supermarket vouchers and occasional expenses including utility bills, car repairs and housing support.
