Virginia Treglia, 1932–2026

Virginia Treglia (Schiappa), of Waltham, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 19, 2026 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 93.

Virginia was the proud daughter of the late Silvio and Pasqualina (Pimpinella) Schiappa. She was born on May 22, 1932, in Santa Maria Infante, Minturno, Italy. Upon emigrating to the United States, Virginia and her husband, Filomeno, moved to Brooklyn, New York, where she worked as a skilled seamstress in the fashion industry creating beautiful wedding gowns. A couple of years later they moved to Waltham making it their home ever since, where she also locally fabricated and stitched convertible automobile tops for several years, demonstrating both creativity and craftsmanship.

Virginia had many interests and hobbies and was a dedicated member of the Sons of Italy in both Waltham and Watertown. She loved crocheting, making homemade wine and liqueur, cultivating her vegetable garden, tending to her fruit trees, and canning vegetables including her delicious tomato sauce. She took great joy in preparing amazing meals for Sunday dinners and family gatherings, where her warmth and hospitality were always on full display.

Loving and compassionate, the single most important roles Virginia held were those of devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports, attending their dance recitals, and traveling to Italy, particularly her trips during the last few years where all of her family were able to travel with her as recently as November 2025, which brought her great happiness.

Virginia was predeceased by her beloved husband of 54 years, Filomeno, and by her dear brother, Carmine Schiappa, with whom she shared a special bond.

Virginia is survived by her loving and devoted children: Elisa Terrasi; Patty Junkins and her husband Kenneth; and Angela Anastasi and her husband David. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Nicole Comerford and her husband Mike; Kenny Junkins and his wife Chantel; Paul Terrasi; Phil Terrasi and his wife Diana; Ray Terrasi; Anthony Terrasi; Nick Anastasi and his fiancée Bee; and Gina Anastasi. She was the treasured great-grandmother of Michael, Matthew, Patrick, Ellianna, Carson, Ariela, Sophie and Leah, who brought her immense joy. She is further survived by numerous wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Family and friends are welcome to gather to remember the love and laughter Virginia shared during visiting hours on Friday, March 27, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Brasco & Sons Memorial Chapels, 773 Moody Street, Waltham. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 28, at Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham.
