Taqueria Mexico’s co-founder celebrates 89th birthday
Family and friends gathered in Waltham on Saturday to celebrate the 89th birthday of Rogelio Serratos of Taqueria Mexico. Serratos founded the family-owned restaurant with his wife, Maria del Refugio Serratos, in 1992.
The celebration brought together three generations of the Serratos family, honoring a legacy that began more than three decades ago when Rogelio and Maria opened the restaurant with a vision of sharing authentic Mexican cuisine and culture with the Waltham community.

Over the years, Taqueria Mexico has grown into one of Waltham’s most beloved family-owned restaurants, serving generations of customers while remaining rooted in the traditions and values on which it was founded.
Rogelio celebrated the milestone birthday while reflecting on a business that has become a fixture in the community.
“Our family has always believed that good food brings people together,” Rogelio’s son Javier Serratos said. “Seeing three generations gathered to celebrate my father’s 89th birthday reminds us how grateful we are for the love and support the Waltham community has shown us over the years.”
