Workshop proposes ideas for advocating for safer rodent-control methods

Save Waltham Wildlife, an initiative of the Waltham Land Trust, is hosting a virtual workshop for residents who would like to become effective advocates for wildlife-friendly rodent control in Waltham. The virtual session will be on Tuesday, March 18, 7 to 8 p.m.
The initiative raises awareness and educates people on the harms caused by rat poisons that use anticoagulant toxins. Wildlife that consume poisoned rats can end up dying from the toxins. Animals at risk include hawks, owls, raccoons, foxes and outdoor pets.
The workshop will share the following:
- Proven conversation starters that turn potential confrontations into productive discussions.
- Persuasive techniques for approaching skeptical neighbors, businesses and property owners.
- How to present compelling wildlife-protection information to busy city officials.
- Ready-to-use resource guides on effective rodenticide alternatives.
“Instead of uncomfortable confrontations, you’ll master the art of friendly, informative conversations that inspire action,” workshop organizers said. “Our expert facilitators will share real success stories and provide personalized feedback through interactive role-playing scenarios.”
