Firefighters put out small fire at Howard Street home

Waltham emergency crews responded to reports of smoke in a house at 83 Howard St. on Tuesday around 8 p.m.

Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke in the basement. They initially believed the smoke was coming from outside but determined upon further investigation that one of the home’s electrical breaker panels had popped. That led to a small fire in the attic, where some insulation had ignited.

Firefighters quickly quickly brought the fire under control.

Due to the hot weather, the Boston Sparks Association A-10 Police and Fire Rehab and Canteen service responded to assist with hydration and recovery for firefighters on the scene.
